Let’s discuss how to get up early. We all have the best intentions to wake up early to get a good start of our day. However, when the time comes to get out of our warm bed, we find ourselves dreading to leave it and start the day. So, we hit the snooze alarm repeatedly, and maybe even fall back asleep. Then we get up late and have to race to be ready in time, which leaves us feeling both groggy and cranky. We can give you some helpful tips on how to start your day in the right way.
Of course, we all have a mental list of things to do every morning and some of them can be quite time-consuming. So, it only makes sense to be prepared in advance.
After all, one of the main ways how to be successful is to stay organized, right? It really pays to get yourself on a set schedule and routine.
The Night Before

Taking the moment to prepare the night before can save you a great deal of time in the morning. Check the weather report and choose your outfit, including your shoes and accessories. Pack your lunch and set the timer on your coffee maker. Have your bags for work ready, including your laptop bag, gym bag and whatever else you take to work. Make a list of what you need and make a to-do list for the next day. If you can, shower before bed rather than in the morning to save time. These few simple details can save you a great deal of time in the morning!
Get on a set sleep schedule and stick to it!
You should stick to a set sleep schedule. The same goes for waking up. Of course, there will be occasional exceptions, but as a rule, you should stick to a set schedule. Allow yourself 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. Once you are on a routine, you will find that it will be a lot easier to fall asleep in the evening and wake up feeling refreshed. And on the weekends, you can sleep in, of course, but don't overdo it, or you’ll throw off your sleep schedule for the week.
Avoid food, caffeine, and alcohol before bed
You should avoid eating and drinking caffeine or alcohol two hours before going to bed to be able to fall asleep quicker.

As well, you should avoid visual stimulation before bed. This includes working on your computer, watching television and playing on your phone.
Unwind before bed with some yoga stretches, breathing exercises or meditation
Have a set routine every evening. Do some simple yoga stretches, breathing exercises or meditation before you turn in. It will help relax your body and mind for you to sleep peacefully. Listen to relaxing music or “white noise” to help you fall and stay asleep, if needed.
Place your alarm clock out of reach
You should place your alarm clock across the room, so you will have to get up to turn it off. If you have it next to your bed, you will be more likely to hit the snooze button!
In the morning

As mentioned above, you should set your alarm out of reach to get up in order to switch it off. Repeatedly hitting the snooze button will only make you fall back into a state of half-sleep and, consequently, it will make you groggier. Get up the first time the alarm goes off and be ready to face your day!
Drink a glass of cold water
A glass of cold water will help you wake up and feel refreshed. It will also help hydrate you to give you more energy.
Splash some cold water on your face
Splash some cold water on your face to jolt you out of your groggy state of mind. It will also help get rid of any nasty “eye crust.”

Step outside for a minute and get a few breaths of fresh air. This will help you feel engaged and motivated to start your day right.
Do a quick workout
Do some quick stretches or even a five to ten-minute workout to get you going. Not only will it help keep you in shape, but it will also give you an added burst of energy!
Eat a nutritious breakfast
A healthy breakfast will give you the energy you need to make it through the day. You should opt for a nutritious, light breakfast instead of sugary cereals or heavy meals like eggs and bacon. Eat whole grains, fruits, and yogurt.
Have a cup of coffee or teaSource: Lichipan via Instagram
Have your morning coffee or tea, but be careful. Too much caffeine will make you crash later in the day and you’ll have trouble falling asleep at night. Instead, drink green tea and make sure to drink plenty of water! Also, completely avoid energy drinks as they are nothing but sugar!
Take a cold shower
A cold shower will help you wake up, whereas a hot shower will just make you feel sleepier. If you call it a night, a hot shower is best, but if you shower in the morning, you should at least rinse off with cold water to wake up.
Listen to upbeat music
Put on the radio as you are getting ready in the morning and listen to upbeat music on your drive or commute to work. It will put you in a good mood and set the tone for the day!
