No one wants dark circles under their eyes. You want your eyes to sparkle and shine, whether you are making a presentation at work or flirting with a cute guy from across the room.
Dark circles under eyes can result from exhaustion, stress, lack of sleep, poor diet and extensive crying. Both men and women of all ages can suffer from dark circles under their eyes. As we age, the skin around our eyes becomes thinner and more visible, so dark circles may appear more frequently as we grow older. 1. Cold Milk
You probably already know that milk conditioning as well as various hair masks like avocado hair mask can make your hair more good looking. But do you know that milk is also the cheapest way how to get rid of dark circles? Cold milk will help soothe your eyes and skin while also eliminating dark circles. Simply soak 2 cotton balls in a bowl or glass of cold milk and let them stay on your eyes for ten to fifteen minutes. Wash with water and watch as the dark circles start to fade.
We’ve all seen the old movies with women lying in bed with cucumbers over their eyes. This is not just an old wives’ tale since it does help eliminate dark circles under eyes. Simply apply a thin, chilled cucumber slice over each eye and let them stay for fifteen minutes. This will not only help reduce dark circles, but will reduce redness and puffiness, as well.
Tomatoes are extremely beneficial in getting rid of dark circles under eyes as they not only eliminate the dark circles, but they also make your skin feel soft and supple. Simply mix one teaspoon of lemon juice with a teaspoon of tomato juice. Apply it to your eyes for ten minutes and then rinse off with cool water. You can do this twice a day. Also, drinking a glass of tomato juice combined with lemon juice and a few mint leaves can help prevent dark circles.
4. Almond Oil
Almond oil is extremely helpful in eliminating dark circles under eyes as it is extremely beneficial for the delicate skin that surrounds the eyes.
Simply apply a drop of almond oil over the dark circles before bed. Gently massage it into your skin and let it stay overnight. The next morning wash the almond oil off with cold water. You can do this daily until the dark circles disappear completely.
5. Coconut Oil
Coconut Oil has many benefits for our skin. It is especially effective at lightening dark circles. It also helps prevent wrinkles and fine lines under our eyes and keeps our skin smooth.
Simply massage some organic extra-virgin coconut oil gently under your eyes. You can do it either before bed or when you wake up in the morning.
6. Rose Water
Rose water has many benefits including keeping our skin and hair healthy and shiny. It is good at reducing dark circles, as well. Simply dip a cotton ball in rose water and let it sit on your closed eyes for ten minutes. Your dark circles will disappear and your skin will be soft and supple.
7. Tea Bags
Cold tea bags are also very soothing for your eyes and can greatly reduce dark circles. Simply soak two tea bags in water and then chill it in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. It is recommended that you use green tea or chamomile tea bags. Place a tea bag on each closed eye for ten minutes. Caffeine shrinks the blood vessels which helps eliminate puffiness. Green tea tightens the skin and reduces swelling. Use this method at least once a day until your dark circles disappear.
Simply placing a thin strawberry slice under each eye will help reduce puffiness and dark circles. It is also believed that eating strawberries helps make your eyes brighter and makes the whites of your eyes whiter.
9. Lemon Juice
Lemon juice contains Vitamin C which is beneficial in reducing the dark under eye circles. Simply apply a few drops of freshly-squeezed lemon juice around your eyes (be careful not to get it in your eyes) and let it sit for ten minutes before rinsing off. If you do this daily for a few weeks it will both eliminate and help prevent dark circles under eyes.
10. Cold Compress
Applying a cold compress to your eyes can help constrict the blood vessels to reduce dark circles and puffy eyes. Simply soak a washcloth in cold water (or cold milk as mentioned above) and put it over your eyelids for about ten minutes.
Turmeric naturally contains both anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties to help eliminate dark circles. Turmeric can also smooth and soften the skin around your eyes.
Simply 2 teaspoons each of pineapple juice and turmeric powder until it forms a thick paste. Apply this under your eyes and allow it to sit for ten minutes before washing it off with a damp, soft cloth. You can use this method once a day until your dark circles fade away.
12. Potato Slices
Potatoes can help reduce dark circles as well as puffiness. They can also rejuvenate and nourish the skin while helping to keep it smooth and firm.
Take 2 thick slices of a chilled potato and place over your eyes for twenty minutes. Rinse with cold water and gently pat dry. You can repeat this process up to three times a week to reduce dark circles under your eyes.

- Always wear sunscreen.
- Remove makeup before going to sleep.
- Do not smoke or use narcotics.
- Limit caffeine and alcohol consumption.
- Reduce Salt Intake.
