As the season changes, so does our makeup and skincare routine. With autumn approaching, our natural bronzy summer makeup is taking a back seat to warmer and more vibrant fall makeup looks. What is more, along with the fall makeup changes, we must transition into a skincare routine that suits the change in weather. Let's talk about it with a pro makeup artist and esthetician Gina Brown.

Autumn is the time to put off until next summer, or better yet, say goodbye to products with a high alcohol content. Instead of keeping your skin from excessive oiliness, they can now dry it out. So, carefully re-read the ingredients of the products you use. It is better to replace cleansing lotions and alcohol-based tonics with foams, milk, and mild cleansing oil.

Soft moisturizing tonics with probiotics, centella or squalene, like the Sensibio Tonic Lotion Facial Toner by Bioderma, are also great for the cold season. They can be used in autumn and even winter. Moreover, it's time to add regular peelings to your fall skincare routine, as well as acid-based care products that will help get rid of age spots, brighten, refresh and even out skin tone.

Speaking about how to do makeup for the fall season, let’s get to the fun part! With fall weather, we are leaning toward warmer palettes, deeper lips, and more dramatic eyes rather than a natural makeup. One of my favorite fall eye makeup trends is statement waterlines. There are so many ways to do this! You can rock a bold line in colors ranging from deep green, blue, or deep brown or a more smoked out version of a lighter shade. For a bolder effect, accentuate your waterline with a creamy kohl liner of your choice. You can then smoke it out with a shadow and a precision pencil brush. Either way, it is a fun fall makeup look for a night out!

Bold statement lips are back in trend for the fall as well. Whether you prefer a velvet matte lipstick or a more satin formula, the transition to deep wines, browns, and berries is a must for your next get together or holiday party. A good tip for getting that rich color to stay on all night is to take a lip liner that is a shade darker than your lipstick, line and fill in the whole lip with the pencil, and then top it with your lip color.

Another fun trend is vibrant eyeshadows. Pops of color, such as emerald greens, oranges, and copper tones, are a lively way to change up your makeup routine for the season. If you are going for a more subtle natural fall makeup look, you may want to add the color just into the inner corner of the waterline or smoke it out a little bit on the outer corner of your eyelid. More daring makeup enthusiasts may like bold cut crease in a preferred color or to sweep eyeshadow all over the eyelid for simple fall makeup looks. In any case, it is another intriguing way to change things up!

This fall, the focus is on wedding makeup in pink shades, golden shadows, light smoky effects on the eyelids and, of course, an emphasis on the lips. For brides who prefer naturalness on their wedding day, the “no makeup” looks also remain in trend.

Styling Tip: Don't be afraid of pink colors on your eyelids! If applied correctly, the shades like the Wattabrat - 3D Baby Pink Shimmer Fenty Beauty by Rihanna in your makeup will turn out very delicate and romantic.

How To Remove Your Fall Makeup Properly

How To Remove Your Fall Makeup Properly
by @melissasamways

Just like skin prep, proper removal of makeup is important. For eyes, use a gentle hydrating eye makeup remover. A good tip if you don’t have one is to use a little bit of coconut oil. It is hydrating and easily removes even the most dramatic fall makeup looks with stubborn liners and mascaras. To remove makeup from your face, mix a creamy facewash with some warm water in your hands and apply it to the face using circular motions. Then, use a warm, wet washcloth to remove what's left on your face. Follow up with your serum and moisturizer.

Trends will come and go, so don’t go crazy and buy a million different products for your fall makeup. Instead, go to your local makeup counter and try some colors you think you might like before you buy. Do keep an open mind. What you thought wouldn't work on you might actually turn out pretty well, so try something different. Always stay true to what makes you feel good and your beauty will always shine through!

Remember, have fun with your fall makeup ideas! Don’t take it too seriously. Play around with different shades and tones to see what works best for you and your personality.
