These tips on how to make your hair grow faster are very helpful. On average, human hair grows about a quarter to half of an inch every month.  However, do not expect miraculous results overnight. You are a human, not a chia pet. The following tips are some healthy and inexpensive ways to grow healthy hair.

1. Trim Your Hair Every Six to Eight Week

Regular trimming can make hairstyles for long hair look perfect and speed up the process of growing, too. Cutting your hair isn’t a magical cure. However, it does eliminate the dead ends that cause breakage and thus slow down the rate at which your hair grows. Simply trimming an eighth of an inch off your hair every six to eight weeks can help ensure that your hair will be healthy and less prone to breakage.

2. Apply a Homemade Hair Mask

Contrary to the popular belief, you do not have to spend a lot on brand name hair masks and conditioning treatments. You can use everyday products you have on-hand at home such as coconut oil, avocado, egg and apple cider vinegar.

Here is a simple recipe I found online:

  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 tablespoon of honey
  • 1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of Cognac or Vodka

Mix together and massage into the roots of your hair, leave on for thirty minutes and then wash and condition your hair as usually. It is recommended that you use a shower cap to keep the mixture from getting into your eyes and all over the place.

Another simple solution is to rinse with apple cider vinegar after you shampoo. Simply mix four tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to one cup of water and massage into your hair. You only need to leave this solution on for only a few minutes and then simply rinse it out of your hair. The vinegar smell will disappear as your hair dries. If you want, you could always add a little lemon juice to make it smell more appealing. Apple cider vinegar will not only promote hair growth but it acts as a natural detangler and also gives your hair shine. It also works wonders for natural curls.

You can also try a mixture of equal parts coconut oil, sweet almond oil and honey. Simply warm for a few minutes and massage into your hair. Again, leave this on for thirty minutes before rinsing out. Also, you can simply massage coconut or avocado oil into your hair overnight and rinse it out in the morning. Obviously, you would wear a shower cap not to ruin your bed linens or hurt your eyes.

If you try any of the aforementioned methods once or twice a week for a few months, you will notice a definite improvement in your hair's texture, length and overall health. It only takes a few minutes, and a few natural common household ingredients to prevent breakage and promote healthy hair growth.

You would be surprised to know how much eating a proper diet can help stimulate hair growth and promote overall hair health. Simple steps such as drinking plenty of water every day to hydrate your hair and taking a multivitamin with biotin, vitamins B, C, D and K can greatly improve the health of your hair, while preventing breakage.

Eating a good amount of proteins such as fish, eggs, beans, sweet potatoes, avocado, kale, and broccoli and nuts, fruits and grains can help stimulate hair growth. Who would’ve known that some simple diet changes can promote hair health, as well?

4. Massage Your Scalp Daily

Taking a few minutes to massage your scalp, whether while in the shower, or perhaps before you go to sleep, can also help stimulate hair growth. You can simply massage your hair while conditioning in the shower or you can make your own warm oil massage for your scalp such as olive oil, avocado oil, argan oil, coconut oil or jojoba oil. You only need to warm it up very slightly. Do not overheat or boil it. Massage the oil gently into your scalp using your fingertips in small circular motions for about ten to twenty minutes a day. If you tend to have oily hair, you may need to wash your hair afterward. Also if your hair is very oily, you might want to only do this type of treatment once a week. Not only will it promote hair growth, but it also feels nice and can be extremely relaxing after a long day.

5. Modify Your Daily Hair Routine

Shampooing your hair daily can strip your hair of the natural oils that are beneficial for healthy hair. It can also cause breakage and shedding. You should only wash your hair two to three times a week unless you have extremely oily hair or excessive products build up.

It is also recommended that you condition every time you shampoo. Conditioner helps to replenish the oils that you strip from your hair while shampooing. It also hydrates your hair to prevent breakage.

You should avoid hot water at all costs. Wash your hair with lukewarm water and rinse it with cold water. Also avoid using heat to blow dry and style your hair. If possible, it is best to let your hair air dry. If you must blow dry your hair use the lowest setting on cool. Try to use non-heat methods to straighten, curl or otherwise style your hair.

I hope you take advantage of these simple and cost-effective tips to make your hair grow faster. Taking simple steps can not only promote hair growth and prevent breakage, but they can help you have shiny, healthy and fuller hair!
