Begin your day at New York on the Upper West Side at Zabar’s – Broadway and 80th street. Get a cup of coffee and a bagel with cream cheese and lox. Enjoy your breakfast at Riverside Park which overlooks the Hudson River. It is just two blocks west from Zabar’s.

8:30am

Walk down Broadway to 72nd street. Now if you head east to Central Park West then you will notice the Dakota Building on the northwest corner. This is where John Lennon lived. Entering the Central Park will lead you to his memorial park – Strawberry Fields. Stroll east through the park to the iconic red-brick Bethesda Terrace. This is where you will find one of the most famous fountains of New York – Angel of The Waters’. The Central Park is one of the best places to visit in the world.

9:30am

Continue walking to the east through the park and you will exit into Fifth Avenue. You will find yourself facing the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Spend a couple of hours in the museum which has one of the world’s largest art collections.

Walk down to the subway at 86th and Lexington. Board a train that takes you to Grand Central Terminal. Check the beautifully painted constellations on the ceiling of the main hall. Enjoy the seafood at the Grand Central Oyster Bar. Alternatively, you can explore a little more of the city at the Campbell Apartment.

12:30pm

Walk westwards along 42nd street. Take a detour at Fifth Avenue near the marble lions of the New York Public Library and keep heading west through Bryant Park till you get to Broadway. Now walk through the epitomic vibrancy of Times Square. If you want to give your legs some rest then hop into a cab and go to The High Line. You can also grab a Citi Bike and bike down to this amazing park. It has been built on a train bridge that is not used any longer. The river views are spectacular and you can enjoy some street food here.

Continue south and you will soon find yourself in the trendy streets of SoHo. You will find some high-end boutiques here and you can check out the books and records at Housing Works Bookstore.

Take a cab or simply walk down or bike to the Lower East Side for dinner and drinks. The variety offered here is overwhelming. You will be able to choose from the many restaurants which offer the most delectable foods. The choice of drinks is just as good so you won’t feel out of option.

8:30pm

Wander into the West Village for live jazz. Some of the best places for jazz are Small’s, the Village Vanguard and the Blue Note. If jazz isn’t for you then you have a lot other musical choices in the area.
