You should exfoliate your skin at least once a week to remove dead skin cells and promote growth of new skin cells. If you have dry skin, you should exfoliate only once a week. You can either buy an exfoliant or make one yourself from natural products such as coffee grounds.
6. Wash Your Skin Properly
It is critical that you wash your face before you go to sleep at night to remove any excess dirt, oil and makeup. Make sure that you are using the proper cleanser for your skin type. If you have dry skin, you certainly do not want to use a product that is designed for someone with oily skin, and vice versa.
7. Less is More
Contrary to today’s fads and trends, you do not have to pile on the makeup. Makeup only clogs our pores and blocks oxygen from our skin. If you can get away with the natural look, then go for it, flaunt that natural beauty! If you really feel that you need make up, try going for the “less is more” look… Simply wear eye shadow, foundation and lip gloss. Simply wearing a lipstick that pops can make your entire look!
8. Always Wear Sunscreen
Tans are overrated, skin cancer is not. Melanoma is on the rise and the sun’s ultraviolet rays are extremely damaging to the skin. Not only can it cause cancer, it can cause wrinkles, fine lines and premature aging. Take care of your skin and apply a high quality SPF sunscreen (45 or higher). And contrary to the common belief, you should apply sunscreen year round. UV rays are just as damaging on cloudy days as they are on sunny days, if not worse. Wearing sunscreen can keep your skin happy, healthy and younger looking.
9. Maintain a Proper Diet
Eating right is crucial for your skin’s health, as well. You should eat a proper diet that is high in vitamins, proteins and nutrients. This includes fruits and nuts, lean meats and fish, dairy, beans and lentils and leafy green vegetables.
10. Get Enough Sleep
Another great healthy skin tip is to make sure your body is getting proper rest. You should be getting 7-9 hours of solid sleep a night. Sleep helps your body rejuvenate, replenish and relax. Getting the proper sleep can prevent you from having wrinkles and fine lines. Moreover, you won’t wake up with tired-looking skin.
